The quick answer

Complete the crafting tutorial in Osprix Warcamp before using a new character’s Forge. Ordinary crafting improves useful affixes on eligible gear and spends Forging Potential; it does not upgrade every rarity through the same process.

Improve an item

  1. Use the inventory’s material transfer button to send crafting materials to storage. Open the Forge with F by default and place an eligible Normal, Magic, Rare or Exalted item in it.
  2. Inspect its base, existing affixes and remaining Forging Potential (FP). Add the corresponding Affix Shard to an available slot or upgrade an existing affix. Ordinary shard upgrades stop at T5; T6 and T7 are not additional clicks on that upgrade path.
  3. Choose a supporting Glyph for your goal. Glyph of Hope has a 25% chance not to consume FP. Glyph of Chaos changes an affix randomly while upgrading it, so consider the risk of losing a useful stat first.
  4. Read the preview, execute the craft and check the affix tier, value, materials and FP afterward. FP costs vary within the shown range; no fixed number of crafts is guaranteed.

When FP runs out

At zero FP, the item can still be worn, but ordinary upgrades are no longer available. Recycling with Shattering has its own rules and exceptions.

Rune of Evolution’s T8 process and Unique/Legendary systems are separate mechanics; do not apply the ordinary four-affix Forge workflow to every item.
