The quick answer
Keep a Unique if its special effect fits your build, if you want it for another character, or if it has an upgrade path you intend to use. A Unique’s rarity alone does not make it better than the gear you wear. Check Legendary Potential (LP), Weaver’s Will, and whether the item is corrupted before deciding what to do with it.
Choose by the item’s properties
| Item | Useful decision |
|---|---|
| Useful special effect or an intended future build | Keep a copy with suitable rolls; ordinary affix crafting does not modify Unique effects |
| At least 1 LP, not corrupted | Reserve it for Legendary crafting with an appropriate Exalted item |
| No LP and no Weaver’s Will | Consider an endgame Nemesis Egg opportunity if you want to try improving it |
| Corrupted Unique | Evaluate it as it stands; it cannot be used to create a Legendary |
| Unneeded duplicate with no planned use | Selling it or keeping only the copies you need is an inventory choice; do not assume its special effects become Affix Shards |
What LP lets you do
Legendary crafting combines a Unique with 1 to 4 LP and an Exalted item with exactly four unsealed affixes in the Eternity Cache in Temporal Sanctum. A sealed affix cannot transfer. The resulting item retains the Unique’s properties and receives as many Exalted affixes as the LP count.
At Tier 2 or higher Temporal Sanctum you can choose one affix to transfer; if the Unique has more than 1 LP, the other affixes are selected randomly. The zone level is the main influence on LP drops, with a smaller effect from Corruption. Increased item rarity and character level do not improve the LP roll.
This explains why an LP item can be worth saving. It is not a dungeon entrance or full crafting-route guide; check the cache’s item compatibility and tier eligibility before committing valuable gear.
What to do with LP0
Some endgame Nemeses let you replace their Egg with your own Unique that has no LP and no Weaver’s Will. Empowering can add LP or turn it into a Legendary; the result is not guaranteed. You can Empower twice, then Challenge for the items or Banish.
Do not Banish after putting your own item in an Egg if you want it back. Choosing Banish discards any item you put in place of an Egg. Challenge is the option that awards the items after a successful fight.
Ordinary Rune of Shattering rules do not mean that every Unique-specific effect can be recycled as a shard. Avoid destructive experiments with a copy you still need.
